# Traffic Control Officer

## Responsibilities
- Direct and manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic to ensure safety in construction zones and during public events.
- Set up, maintain, and dismantle temporary traffic signs, cones, and barriers in line with traffic management plans.
- Collaborate with construction teams, event organizers, and law enforcement to implement effective traffic control measures.
- Monitor traffic conditions and report any incidents or issues to the relevant authorities.
- Provide clear directions and information to drivers and pedestrians, assisting them in navigating around roadworks and event sites.
- Participate in debrief meetings to discuss and improve traffic control strategies.
## Qualifications - Basic understanding of local road networks, traffic laws, and regulations with a strong commitment to road safety.
- Certification in traffic control management is a plus, but not required; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members, drivers, and the public.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, to cover special events or emergencies.
## Day-to-Day - Start your day by reviewing the work schedule and traffic management plans with your team.
- Participate in a safety briefing to discuss potential hazards, weather conditions, and key focus areas for the day.
- Head to your assigned location to set up traffic control equipment, ensuring all safety standards are met.
- Manage traffic flow throughout the day by signaling and guiding vehicles and pedestrians around work zones or events.
- Maintain constant communication with team members and supervisors via radio for effective coordination.
- Conclude your shift by reporting back to the office, providing feedback on the day’s operations, and preparing for the next shift.
